That Hypnotherapy Guy
I’m Tim and I’m a fully qualified and accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist.
I practice a modern, evidence-based form of psychotherapy and hypnosis called solution-focused hypnotherapy (SFH).
In SFH, we use well-established and practical techniques that help clients achieve positive psychological and behavioural changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time.
Training, Qualifications & Accreditations
I trained at the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy school and graduated with an accredited Hypnotherapy in Practice diploma from the National Council for Hypnotherapy and diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (Clifton Practice). I’m also a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy.
5 Reasons Why Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Works?
- We don’t focus on the root cause of the issue or past trauma. We’re forward thinking and use some of the most effective components of psychotherapy to help you determine how to meet your goals, get happier and optimise performance
- It’s evidence based. We’ll incorporate what neuroscience tells us about brain functionality to help explain how you feel and behave the way you do – and how to change
- It’s adaptable. Not only can it be used to treat mental health issues, but it can also be used to optimise performance; whether that’s in sports, the creative arts or in the workplace
- Results can be achieved in a relatively short period of time. Typically, between 6 to 12 sessions (give or take)
- By the end, you’ll have a mental health toolkit that you’ll be able to utilise to your advantage for the rest of your life
What to expect during hypnosis?
Well, for a start, despite what stage hypnotists would like us to believe, no one can be hypnotised against their will. So please don’t worry about being turned into a chicken!
During hypnosis (or trance), you are always in total control and fully aware of what is happening. Hypnosis is a perfectly safe, normal and deeply relaxing experience that we all experience on a daily basis. For example: when we complete a task without really thinking about it, when we exercise or watch TV.
Hypnosis will help you reach a deeply relaxed state of mind that will result in your subconscious being more receptive to suggestion and changes in behaviour.
As a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy, I follow and am accountable to their Code of Ethical Conduct and Performance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is hypnosis safe and am I always in control?
It’s perfectly safe and is just a natural, relaxed state of focused attention; one we all experience in our day-to-day lives – for example when we watch TV or exercise. It was recognised as a valid treatment for patients in 1955 by the British Medical Association. There are no swinging watches or counting to 10! You will always be in total control and fully aware throughout the process.
How will the hypnosis benefit me?
The hypnosis always follows the talking therapy part of each session. This is because, when we are in the trance state (hypnotic state), at a subconscious level, we are more receptive and capable of making positive, long term psychological and behavioural changes. It’s also very relaxing and my clients often feel re-charged afterwards.
Is solution focused hypnotherapy just as affective online?
Absolutely. There is no loss in the efficacy when hypnotherapy is conducted online. I have worked with the vast majority of my clients online. In fact, for many, because of the time saved travelling, online fits in really well with busy lifestyles.
What can I expect from each session?
You can expect a positive, safe and collaborative experience with every session. The first half is the talking therapy part; followed by hypnosis. Unlike other forms of therapy, we don’t re-visit the root cause or past trauma. Instead, we’ll focus on helping you re-frame your perspective and thinking to help you discover what needs to change and how.
As our approach is evidence-based, there will always be a section where I explain how your brain is impacting how you feel and think. Throughout the process I’ll give you a range of really practical and effective actions and strategies that will form your mental health toolkit.
Last but not least, we’ll finish with some deeply relaxing and chilled hypnosis.
